About Us

Launched in 2016, the Association for Alternative Family Care of Children brings together individuals, Government and non-governmental organizations to work towards the implementation of the Guidelines for the Alternative Family Care of Children in Kenya.

The Association consolidates diverse knowledge, skills and voices to shape and promote child care reforms that will strengthen and preserve family and community based care approaches.

VISION

A country where safe and nurturing family and community based care for all children is a reality.

MISSION

To promote family and community based care for all children in Kenya through the implementation of the Guidelines for the Alternative Family Care of Children in Kenya and other relevant legislation and policies.

KEY OBJECTIVES

To provide a forum for individual and corporate members in the Alternative Family Care for Children sector to address challenges faced in their work.

To serve as a common reference point for individuals and corporate members working in the areas of alternative care and family and community strengthening.

To provide a platform for individual and corporate members to foster an environment of collaboration in the areas of alternative care and community strengthening.

To provide a platform for sharing and disseminating knowledge and best practices on all forms of alternative care and other family and community strengthening initiatives for children in need of care and protection.

To provide a platform for individual and corporate members to foster an environment of collaboration in the areas of alternative care and community strengthening.

To foster and encourage a spirit of service excellence and professionalism amongst actors in the Alternative Family Care for Children sector.
